Green Remodeling & Energy Audits

Green remodeling...it's one of today's hottest buzzwords, but it's much more than simply using green products.

Green remodeling focuses on building science, enhancing indoor air quality, reducing energy consumption, leveraging renewable energy, increasing water efficiency, and utilizing sustainable, durable, and local materials.

Mike Winn is a Certified Green Professional by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and can bring his expertise and knowledge of green remodeling to your project.

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry has established the Green Certified Professional designation to promote the highest standards of green remodeling through credentialing of remodeling professionals.

Energy Audits

To get you started with green remodeling, Winn partners with Home Performance Solutions to provide one of the region's most rigorous energy audits. A certified energy auditor will come to your home with the industry's most advanced energy auditing technology to help you discover ways to increase your energy efficiency and reduce your carbon footprint.

Based on the energy audit, Winn and our other partners can assist you in selecting and implementing the improvements that will most effectively improve the comfort and energy efficiency of your home.

Our Commitment to Green Living

Winn Design’s commitment to green living and green building is present in every project.

  • We use certified lumber, arsenic-free material, recycled and engineered lumber, composite decking, metal roofing, and Icynene insulation. All debris (except asphalt roofing) generated from the project is sorted through for recyclable material.
  • We install energy efficient heating systems, like radiant in-floor heating, hybrid baseboard radiators, and energy re-capturing systems.
  • Advanced framing techniques mean we consume less lumber. Better insulation methods means that you need less energy to heat and cool your home.
  • Our entire staff believes in thinking green. Not only because it is the right thing to do, but we understand that it is a long term benefit to our community and our environment.

We feel that building on to existing structures rather than building new is a better practice and is one of the reasons we focus our energies on home remodeling and construction.
